Medan AL Shaqab

Behind the curtains, Claudia and Lucas have been undertaking a global search for the ideal stallion to cross with the daughters of TM Itaipu who are now starting to enter their breeding age.The goal was to find a stallion that, upon joining the TM breeding program, would help refine the stock and—working in tandem—establish a new standard of type and refinement for the next generation. Furthermore, there was a search for new genetics.

The quest has taken over two years and several international trips to inspect the most suitable candidates up close.

The path finally led them to the impressive Medan Al Shaqab ,a stallion royally bred in Qatar and chief sire of Sweden Arabian Stud, owned by Joakim and Kathleen Ohlsson.He is a handsome grey stallion, with an imposing stature, a very well conformed body, and an exquisite head.

Bred by Al Shaqab Stud in Qatar, Medan Al Shaqab is a third generation of their breeding program. His father is the straight Egyptian stallion Fahroud Al Shaqab, the heir to his father Al Adeed Al Shaqab, the emblematic World Champion Stallion.

His mother is the world-famous Abha Myra, a U.S. Reserve National Champion Mare who is one of the earliest daughters of Marwan Al Shaqab and ZT Ludjkalba, a daughter of Ludjin El Jamaal bred by Count Federico Zichy Thyssen in Argentina.

Aside from her show credentials and noble heritage, Abha Myra is regarded as one of the most significant broodmares in the world, being the mother of two Word Champions, namely Fadi Al Shaqab (by Besson Carol) and Siwar Al Shaqab (by SMA Magic One). Siwar, in the other hand, is also the mother of two World Champions, Shahalel Al Shaqab (by Namous Al Shahania) and Afreen Al Shaqab (by D Meyzan).

Medan Al Shaqab was named Gold Champion in Qatar and Italy prior to his exportation to Sweden. Under the capable hands of the highly regarded international judge Kathleen Ohlsson, Medan Al Shaqab was able to expand his fair share of possibilities as a breeding stallion and further prove his worth.

Medan lineage includes no less than three famous and renowned World Champion Stallions (his great grandfather Gazal Al Shaqab, his grandfather Marwan Al Shaqab and his brother Fadi Al Shaqab) not to mention his own father Farhoud, the Chief sire of Straight Egyptian program for Al Shaqab Stud.

And just like TM Itaipu did some years ago when he left his homeland in Brazil towards the East, it is time to Medan Al Shaqab to cross the Atlantic Sea, but this time towards the west, to claim the world as his stage and seize the opportunity to become a truly globally acclaimed stallion.
